Successful Technology Planning |
|
 |
Begin with the Business Plan
Sue Dillon, Outreach Business Consultant, of the University of Scranton SBDC says to approach your technology plan so that it becomes an
integral part of your business plan. Begin by thinking of objectivesthat are specific, that are concrete and are measurable. They should be practical and emphasize implementation.
“Look at the costs of acquiring the technology, training employees and maintaining the technology,” she says, “and incorporate them into your business plan.” Think especially, though, of your marketing strategy and how eCommerce technology will impact your business plan.
“If you think your customers will find you through the web, then you must communicate to customers and sell to customers via the web,” she says.
“For example, you may need a shopping cart, your web site may have functions that serve to enhance customer service and provide information on your businesses products and services.”
A well planned web site, she says, can be cost effective in generating sales and providing customer service.
