Level 3 Acquires Broadwing for $1.4 Billion
Broadband Internet provider Level 3 Communications on Tuesday said it will buy communications company Broadwing for about US$1.4 billion in cash and stock. Under terms of the deal, Broomfield, Colo.-based Level 3 would pay $8.18 in cash, plus 1.3411 shares of its common stock, for each share of Broadwing. Austin, Texas-based Broadwing said the deal valued its shares at $15.31 apiece, based on Level 3's closing price of $5.32 Monday. Read Story on E-Commerce Times
Sun Microsystems Unveils Portable Data Center
Server and software maker Sun Microsystems has come up with a novel twist on the data center: a portable version of the hulking outposts that house nothing but computers and equipment needed to store and process raw data.
