IBM's 65nm Cell Could Chip Away PS3 Costs:

A state-of-the-art IBM manufacturing plant located in East Fishkill, N.Y., has become the first facility to produce the 65 nanometer Cell Broadband Engine, the chip maker announced Monday. The Cell chip, developed through a $400 million partnership between IBM, Toshiba and Sony, is the technology underpinning Sony's recently released next-generation video game console, PlayStation 3. Net Neutrality: Avoiding a Net Loss:

For more than a year, the issue of network neutrality has taken up a tremendous amount of time and attention in both Washington, D.C., and Silicon Valley. In fact, it may be the single most engrossing subject currently tying together policy interests in these two distinct parts of the country. Unfortunately, one key constituency often seems left out of this heated debate: the Internet consumer. Billion-Dollar Coupon Program to Usher In Digital TV

The Department of Commerce's National Telecommunications and Information Administration is setting aside close to $1 billion to help consumers who will be forced to migrate to digital television after February 17, 2009 -- when analog broadcasting is scheduled to cease. The Digital Television Transition and Public Safety Act of 2005 also provided for a coupon program that will subsidize consumers' purchases of converter boxes. See the Full Story

Video Search Startup Combs the Web for Clips

A Silicon Valley startup hoping to become "the Google of audio and video" introduced software this week that trolls the Internet for podcasts, music and videos, then sorts the clips into categories such as "fashionista," "hip hop" and "gossip snoop."
